This filter is a good example of why it is so important to do
proper maintenance. It is also

of the reason most maintenance providers will not work on an
above ground pool. The filter is small and lightly
constructed. it will keep your pool clean, but only if you do
the proper maintenance. If you get behind in maintenance and
have an algae bloom, or your water gets cloudy because you
haven't been getting the leaves out, chances are it will take
some time to clean up. This filter clogs in just a couple of
minutes when vacuuming debris from pool.

another thing with above ground pools that will cause problems
are the valves used on the sides of the pool. The valves and
the pumps are really not suitable for moving any significant
amount of debris. A small amount of leaves or acorns, and you
will have to disassemble the components to clear the plumbing.
This adds a lot of time and aggravation to a job that is
easily avoided by doing regular maintenance. Keep your
chlorine at proper levels, and use a net to remove any debris.
There are no main drains either, so if you let debris build
up, you need to vacuum more often to get it out..
I have
figured out some ways of cleaning these pools up, but it still
takes longer to clear up cloudy water. I have to charge a
little more to service above ground pools, because the smaller
pumps and filters mean more time on site for me. I also need
owners to understand that it does take a little longer for
water to clear up.
